13th Grand Secrets of Spiritual Mysteries
Student Reactions/Responses
FROM LESSON 2
WHY GIVING TO MY SELF WAS NOT ALLOWED
I awoke at 4 in the morning, sick to my stomach. The following day, I felt generally weak all over. When I could not trace it to anything I ate or did differently, I realized that often after a Lesson from the Council of 8 during a new Grand Secret revelation I had some noticeable response to the information given.
This morning after the 2nd Thursday night Lesson, it was suggested we begin Friday morning asking our self what we would "give to our self" that day. While LMN said there was no judgment on being 'stingy' with our energy and giving to our self, I remembered my dad calling me "selfish" when I was younger.
To give to myself was "selfish", and it made others unhappy with me which then caused them to reject me. So, at a young age, I had vowed, "Never do things just for the self", and yet here was LMN telling us to do exactly that. It made me feel ill because I did NOT want to be rejected by others.
It explained to me why I felt guilty traveling on my own (my favorite form of adventure) and why I wouldn't go anywhere if my mate didn't go with me. She has been encouraging me all during our marriage to go places and have fun, but this hidden vow kept me "planted" and very unhappy.
I used the system of Thought Karate to discover this 'vow' and to set myself free from it. What a great new freedom to enjoy as we journey into the rest of Giving and Receiving.
